Pretty much all the bread on sale in shops contains salt, it’s a fundamental bread-making ingredient. Although some websites say a little salt is fine for ayahuasca dieters, I have decided to refrain completely. The idea is that salt protects one from the outside world, in other words, it cuts off our senses.
Below are two pictures. The first is of the bread I baked, which is simply one cup of white flour and a third of a cup of water. The flat breads are shaped by hand and baked at a high heat for no more than 10 minutes. Nothing could be simpler, and the results are surprising. Plain white bread really does miss salt, so I will look to improve the recipe with seeds and wholemeal flour.
The second picture shows my sugar- and butter-free oatmeal and hazelnut cookies. As you’d imagine, not very sweet, and the lack of fat in the form of butter was a problem. I tried to get around this by blending hazelnuts and mixing with yoghurt, to produce a substance with a butter-like consistency. The other ingredients are egg and flour. The mixture held, and the resulting “cookies” can only be described as filling. Again, it’s best to appreciate the oatmeal and nutty flavours. Imagine very dense bread, and no sweetness whatsoever.
